Hey! Something good happened! To me! And I'm writing it in my journal! Wheee! See? I'm not melancholy all the time...

For a while now I've been after the Karaoke company that runs the shows at the little pub I like to frequent on their Karaoke night if they needed any help or had an open show.

I got a e-mail on Tuesday from Number Two (no, his name does not mean what you think it means. He and another member of the Karaoke group share the same name, and for simplicity's sake, we simply call them Number One and Number Two). He said that after some time of running the Karaoke show at the Pub and another local establishment, he had finally had enough and was calling it quits. Since he was aware of my desire to run a show of my own, he asked me if I would like to take over for him.

Well, I jumped at the chance.

I was a KJ in college for a little while, so I strongly suspected that getting back into the swing of things (no pun intended) wouldn't be all that difficult. And I was right; Thursday night I did a half-show training session at the Pub and regained my KJ legs relatively quickly.

The Friday night show, I must say, went much better than was originally anticipated, despite the fact I couldn't get any singers for the first half hour and it had therefore turned into the Corsair2 show. But eventually, as the alcohol started to loosen people's tounges and inhibitions (alright folks, I'm still talking about singing here), a good time was had by all.

So now I have a KJ gig every Friday night at the Pub from 10 to 1:30, and every Monday night from 8 to midnight at a local bar and grill. Plus, they just added a third show to the weekly schedule and asked if I could work that one, too! Hooray!

I've been told by at least two folks that I won't be saying 'Hooray' after a month or so. I sincerely hope they're wrong; Friday night was fun! Besides, it's a steady gig, with steady pay, and the two audiences I gigged in front of seemed to dig me. Plus I get to sing a bunch, and ham it up in front of an audience. What more could one ask for?
