More bitching about Tri-Rail [Jul. 14th, 2008|05:13 pm]

My Tri-Rail schedule provides me something of an absurd before-and-after view of worlwide train service.

In the morning, I take the DMU--which, when it's running on-time, is smooth, efficient, comfortable and cool, with working AC and plenty of room to spread out; service which would be expected here in the States.

In the afternoon, the train is the older Bombardier consist, with air conditioning that barely works (when it is working), packed to the rafters with people, old, smelly, and cramped. In other words, service you'd expect to find in, say, Guatemala.
